Carnival Cruise & Disney World | USA 2009

Sailing the Caribbean on the Carnival Glory, exploring Mayan ruins, snorkeling with jellyfish, and making memories with family made our 2009 cruise unforgettable.

2009 was a truly special year for our family, as we embarked on an amazing 7-day cruise with my parents aboard the Carnival Glory. Departing from Cape Canaveral, a favorite port for my parents, we set sail for an unforgettable journey through the Caribbean, stopping at Cozumel, Costa Maya, Belize, and Nassau before returning to Florida.

Each port offered its own unique experiences. In Costa Maya, we arranged an excursion to explore the nearby Mayan ruins of Chacchoben, located about an hour from the port. These ruins, dating back to around 200 B.C., provided an incredible glimpse into the life and culture of the ancient Maya civilization, with towering pyramids, ceremonial platforms, and intricate stone carvings that left us in awe.

In Belize, we went snorkeling in crystal-clear waters, an experience that still stands out as the best snorkeling we’ve ever done. The reef was teeming with marine life, and the highlight for us were the walnut jellyfish—transparent, harmless, and mesmerizing. We could even gently hold them in our hands, making it a magical, hands-on encounter with nature.

In Nassau, we strolled through the bustling Straw Market, exploring colorful stalls filled with handmade crafts, souvenirs, and local treats. We also took some time to wander through the city, enjoying the Caribbean architecture and vibrant atmosphere.

Of course, life aboard the ship was just as memorable. We enjoyed delicious meals, relaxing by the pool, and quality time with my parents, making memories that are still cherished today. From the beauty of the Caribbean waters to the fascinating history at each port, this cruise was a perfect mix of adventure, culture, and family bonding—a week we’ll never forget.
